Sexuality Information and Education Council of the US - SIECUS is a 38 year old nonprofit organization, dedicated to affirming that sexuality is a natural and healthy part of life. SIECUS develops, collects, and disseminates information, promotes comprehensive education, and advocates the right of individuals to make responsible sexual choices. Recommended areas:

Elizabeth Blackwell Health Center
The Elizabeth Blackwell Health Center sadly closed down in 2001, for a lack of funds and a changing healthcare environment. For years, they provided medical, counseling and outreach to many people with disabilities. The Center will be greatly missed.

AIDS Activity Coordinating Office
The AIDS Activities  Coordinating Office (AACO) administers federal, state and city funded HIV/AIDS programs in Philadelphia through collaborative service contracts with community-based organizations.

Open Door Counseling

Open Door, a service offered by Philadelphia Community Health Alternatives (PCHA) is a confidential counseling program for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth and adults. Counseling services offered include individual therapy, couples therapy, family counseling and groups.

Counselors are trained to handle issues including, but not limited to, questions of sexual orientation, relationships and dating, addictions, eating disorders and dealing with HIV status.

Open Door counseling services are offered Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. by appointment only. A minimal cost contribution is suggested per session, although no one will be turned away from inability to pay. Open Door is partially funded by William Penn Foundation, and PCHA is a United Way donor option recipient.
