America Online
  1. Click on "Mail Center" on the toolbar
  2. Click on "Set Up Mail Signature."
  3. Click on "Create," type the name of the sig.file, and create the sig.file using he different options available (Keep your lines short by adding paragraph returns at the end).
  4. Set the default to "On" so that your sig.file is added to your outgoing mail.
  5. After you have developed your sig.file, send an e-mail message to yourself with it attached to see what it looks like. Make sure to check for typos, errors, and the way the sentences wordwrap. You can change this by using paragraph returns at the end of sentence lines. 


Microsoft Outlook Express (Outlook Express is different from Microsoft Outlook)

  1. On the menu bar, click "Tools."
  2. On the drop-down box, click on "Options."
  3. Click on the "Signatures" tab.
  4. Click on "New" to create your sig.file. (Keep your lines short by adding paragraph returns at the end).
  5. Click on "Add sig.file to all outgoing messages."

Microsoft Outlook
(Outlook is different from Microsoft Outlook Express)
  1. On the menu bar, click "Tools."

  3. Click on "Mail Format" tab at top.
  4. Click on "Signature Picker" tab at bottom.
  5. Click on "New" to create your sig.file. (Keep your lines short by adding paragraph returns at the end). OK
  6. At bottom, "Signature" make sure the name of the signature you created shows in the drop down box "Use this signature by default." (Unchecking this box will discontinue using this or any signatures.)

Creating Your Signature using Lotus Notes Release 5
  1. From the In-box, click on Menu-bar Actions
  2. click on Tools
  3. click on Preferences
  4. You will see a dialog box with tabs and sub-tabs
  5. Select the Mail Tab
  6. Select the Signature sub-tab
  7. Check the box "Automatically append a signature to my outgoing mail"
  8. Select "Use Text"
  9. In the "Signature box type in a couple of blank lines (enter, enter), so that you have room to type your message above the signature.
  10. Type in the desired signature.

Netscape Messenger
  1. On the menu bar, click "Edit."
  2. Click on "Preferences."
  3. Go to the folder named "Identity."
  4. Choose a file to create your sig.file.in. Be sure to always use a text file because you don't know what the other person is using. Therefore, you do not know how it will appear onscreen. (Keep your lines short by adding paragraph returns at the end).
